Community Medicine

The subject Community Medicine is taught for 3rd and 4th BHMS students according to the syllabus and course curriculum prescribed by National Commission for Homoeopathy (NCH), New Delhi, Govt.of India and the examinations are conducted by the Srimanta Sankardeva University of Health Sicence, Govt. of Assam. A total 150 nos. of theory and 150 hrs of practical classes are taken for the students. In the subject study about Communicable diseases (e.g. Chiiken pox, Mumps, HIV etc.),Vector borne diseases (e.g. Dengu, Malaria etc.), water borne disease (e.g. Typhoid, Diarrhea, Dysentery etc.) and non communicable diseases (e.g. Diabetes, Heart disease, Cancer etc.) and theirepidemiology, preventive measures, diagnosis and treatment. As well as in the subject study about personal hygine, food and nutrition, immunization, family planning, importance of family planning, environmental pollution (e.g. water, air, soil etc.), adulteration of food, maternal health care, child health care, health education and communication, mental health, occupational disease, social and health, screening of diseases etc. and practical classes include filed visit, health survey visits, health awareness programe, national and international health day observation. Final year students are taken to chemical factory, milk pasteurization unite, water purification center, sewage treatment plant, phc and family survey visits.
